FAQ
There is no formula to how I help clients. Every client is unique and their needs, homes and circumstances are all very different. I consider myself like a private PA for your move. I tailor my approach entirely around what is needed whether that is downsizing, upsizing, or managing the practical details of a move.
A professional organiser helps people move and downsize and sometimes upsize. I support clients through what can feel like an overwhelming transition and help make the process calmer, clearer, and more manageable.
I charge an hourly rate of £50. Travel costs are charged in addition. This keeps pricing transparent and allows flexibility depending on the scale and complexity of each project.
It is completely up to you. However, I recommend not throwing anything away beforehand. I often find items that clients assume have no value that can actually be sold or reused so it is best to leave everything as it is.
During a move, and especially when downsizing, there can be an overwhelming amount of waste. I am deeply committed to keeping that to an absolute minimum. My focus is on making every move as sustainable as possible, ensuring unwanted items are sold, donated to charity, or sent to recycling and refuse centres.
There is always a charity in need of items to help set someone up in a new home, whether it is bedding, kitchenware, or other household essentials. Fabrics can go to textile recycling centres, and there are many effective ways to sell items. Platforms such as Vinted, eBay, specialist dealers, or auction houses enable most belongings to have a second life, reduce landfill, recoup some initial cost and make the moving process as conscientious as possible.
I manage the practical planning and day-to-day organisation of the move. This includes assessing what is to be kept, sold, donated, stored or recycled. I will also coordinate with removal companies, auction houses and specialist contractors whilst overseeing packing and labelling. I will create inventories where required and manage logistics through to completion. I support clients with settling in after the move. This can include unpacking and organising belongings by room, setting up kitchens and wardrobes, arranging furniture and artwork and ensuring the house functions smoothly from the outset. My role is to make decisions at key points such as confirming what you wish to keep or let go, approving quotes, and setting priorities. I ensure you are fully informed and supported throughout, allowing you to remain involved without being burdened by the detail.
This is an incredibly important part of any move, and for many people sentimental and high-value items are closely linked. I approach these items with particular care, allowing time and space for thoughtful decision-making. Where possible, I usually recommend keeping hold of sentimental items, especially those with strong personal or family meaning. If an item no longer has a place in the new home, it is often more appropriate to pass it to a family member or friend who values it in the same way. For items of financial value, I can advise on specialist valuations, insurance, storage, or sale, ensuring everything is handled responsibly and with respect.
My role is to guide and support, never to rush decisions, so clients feel confident and comfortable with every outcome.
Yes, I work closely with your chosen removal company to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. This includes briefing the team in advance, agreeing packing and loading schedules, confirming labelling systems, and being on hand on the day to oversee logistics and resolve any issues. My role is to act as a clear point of contact, ensuring the move is efficient, calm, and well organised. I am also happy to recommend trusted removal companies. I generally suggest obtaining three quotes for any move although in London this can be more challenging as many firms operate under the same umbrella company. I can advise on this and help you navigate the options to ensure you are confident in your choice
Yes. Where items are going directly into storage or are being shipped abroad I will create a comprehensive inventory. This ensures every item is fully accounted for and easy to locate at a later date.
Even when a full inventory is not required, I strongly advise that all boxes are clearly labelled by room and numbered if preferred. This allows for efficient unpacking and ensures the removal team knows exactly which room each box should go into on arrival.
Every project begins with a free consultation to understand your needs and timeline. This creates a strong foundation from which I build a bespoke, client-led approach.
Ideally around six months in advance. It is important to understand what you need from me and to identify removal companies you are comfortable with. This ensures that the process does not feel rushed.
Each client is different, so I do not follow a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead, I tailor the approach and timing to suit your individual circumstances, priorities, and pace.
Absolutely. This is something I really enjoy helping with. Where possible, I will visit your new property and help plan where everything will go to ensure it fits comfortably. I can also assist with details such as shortening curtains and making sure the items you love and feel sentimental about have a place in your new home.
This can be a difficult process and often comes down to sentimentality. Going through old items can bring back old memories and create an emotional circumstance. I am always empathic and caring throughout this process. My role is to guide and support to help you feel comfortable and confident with your decisions.
Items you no longer want are handled responsibly. This may involve donations to charity, ethical recycling, or appropriate disposal. Where suitable, I can also help arrange sales through auction houses or trusted dealers.
Yes. This is one of the areas I feel most responsible for. I am committed to ensuring as little as possible goes to landfill. I actively donate and recycle wherever possible and am very happy to transport items myself to the appropriate places.
Testimonies
Katie G (Teddington)
“A friend recommended The Professional Organiser to me, and I was sceptical. How could someone tall and slim possibly understand the wardrobe of someone small and overweight? Well, she did, and she really helped me understand why I bought the clothes I did, even the ones still unworn in the wardrobe. I not only sorted what I really wanted to keep, but why, and what was missing that would help the daily decision of what to wear much easier. I am so thankful, and remarkably feel taller and fantastically curvy. I would thoroughly recommend.”

“When things get really overwhelming Cornelia is your gal. When I had to move and divide my belongings between two new places, she was a God send. She brings much clarity, calm and compassion to what seems an impossible situation. Cornelia, in what seemed like seconds, found me the most economic service providers, orders everything online from a new phone to an ironing board. She unpacked my boxes, recycled unnecessary items to charity and the dump. Organised with patience everything from clothes to cutlery. And even made me my lunch. I honestly thought I’d have surely died without her!”
Liza (Marylebone)
“While we were away in Canada, Cornelia took charge of our move into our London house. This included working with us on the choices of colours, fabrics and furniture before we left so when we returned after six weeks, we were able to just move in without having to make up a bed or go without a kitchen utensil, she had even organised a Tesco delivery so there was food in the fridge and washing up powder ready for the holiday washing. The whole experience was a complete pleasure and the house looks amazing too, Cornelia’s taste is as excellent as her organisational skills.”
